KP Chief Minister Lahore visit

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi arrived in Lahore today, Friday, for a three-day official visit. The visit aims to review political developments and strengthen party coordination within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Officials described the trip as important amid heightened political activity in the country.

During his stay, Afridi is expected to hold meetings with PTI parliamentarians at the Punjab Assembly. Sources revealed he may also visit Kot Lakhpat Jail to meet incarcerated party leaders. These engagements reflect the party’s focus on internal consultations and support for detained members.

The KP chief minister is also likely to visit the residences of detained PTI leaders. Several important meetings with senior party figures are planned to discuss strategy and coordination. Officials said the visit is part of broader efforts to strengthen party unity.

In addition, Afridi is expected to attend a ceremony at the Lahore High Court. Sources indicated he may also visit Zaman Park, the residence of PTI founder Imran Khan. These visits aim to demonstrate solidarity with party leadership and ongoing legal matters.

The visit may include additional engagements depending on political developments during the three days. Officials emphasized the importance of Afridi’s Lahore trip for party strategy and outreach. The KP chief minister’s schedule highlights PTI’s focus on internal coordination and political planning.

PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has questioned the legality of Sohail Afridi’s election as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The challenge came shortly after Afridi was elected on Tuesday.

Sohail Afridi, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate, won the KP Assembly vote with 90 votes. Opposition parties boycotted the election, and their candidates—including Maulana Lutfur Rehman of JUI-F—received no votes.
